How I Made Over $500 Profit From 8 Books
Every so often I like to show what's possible, so here you go!
It’s been a few weeks since I last shared some examples of profitable book flipping transactions.
We just had the busiest part of the year for book sales at the start of the month, which meant I had some great options to choose from.
The reason flipping books the way I do works is because most customers are impatient and don’t do a whole lot of research.
That will always be the case and is why this has worked for me over the last eight years.
If you aren’t subscribed so these posts get emailed to you, do that now.
Book #1
I bought two copies of this book in August for $87.50 each and then listed them for just under double that price, selling for $159.79 soon after.
I included these to show that even I sell books under my 50% ROI target sometimes.
When in the ecommerce market, there are always things outside of your control and there are no guarantees.
However, if you do your research and buy at proper prices, it’s hard to lose money.
Extremely hard.
Cost Basis: $87.50 each
Sale Price: $159.79 each
Fees: $31.75 each
Profit After Fees: $40.54 each
ROI: 46.3%
Total Profit: $81.08
Book #2
I wanted to include this one because it is rare that I ever buy more than two copies of a single book.
The only time I’ll do it, is if it is flying off the shelves or just a fantastic price.
In this case, the price was incredible, so I got five of them.
They went on to sell for $154.95 on several occasions.
Cost Basis: $38.85 each
Sale Price: $154.95 each
Fees: $29.99 each
Profit After Fees: $86.11 each
ROI: 222%
Total Profit: $430.55
Book #3
I flip books all year round, not just when it’s “busy season”.
However, this title was one I specifically bought because it spikes every year during early September.
It’s like a stock: buy low and sell high (I rarely sell stock, but you get the point)
You can’t always predict if a book will spike, but if it has every single year at the same time, it’s a safe bet.
Here is the Keepa chart for this title, so you can see what I’m talking about.
It spiked this year again, but not as high as before.
That’s okay though because I left plenty of room by buying at the absolute low.
Cost Basis: $43.48
Sale Price: $109.95
Fees: $24.27
Profit After Fees: $42.20
ROI: 97%
Conclusion
Cost Basis: $412.73
Total Fees: $237.72
Profit After Fees: $553.83
ROI: 134%
I’m going to make this really simple.
What other side hustle allows anyone to make over $500 profit like this, from just an hour of work?
I’d love to know.
Finding, buying, and listing these books takes less than an hour when you get the hang of doing it.
Starting from scratch, it won’t be that easy and it will take longer.
However, everything worth doing isn’t easy from the get go.
It takes effort and practice.
I don’t know what else to say.
