“Why Not Me? by Jarrylew” is an e-commerce and investment newsletter that focuses around the idea of using efficient income to become self-employed and financially free.

Nothing like this exists on the internet and you’re guaranteed to learn something new by subscribing.

I encourage you to also follow me on: Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube

Hello there.

You likely landed on this guide after seeing one of my posts on social media talking about “The Best Side Hustle on Earth”.

Well, you’re in the right place.

I’m going to tell you exactly how I made $38,000 profit in 2021 without working more than 10 hours/week.

Don’t believe me? Read this post.

Why am I sharing this information you ask?

Because Amazon is abundant. There are millions of books out there, sharing this information doesn’t mean I make less money as a result.

Why does this work?

Well, there is a thing on Amazon that you probably know well called “Amazon Prime”.

Anything listed with Amazon Prime shipping arrives MUCH faster.

Customers love fast shipping so much that they are willing to pay EXTRA for it. I’m talking WAY EXTRA.

If we:

  • Buy items that arrive in 1-2 weeks

  • Do the waiting for the customer until they arrive

  • List them on Amazon with Prime shipping

We get rewarded for it.

With my method, I teach everyone to start by buying and selling books.

Why books?

Books have a very predictable behavior pattern and have the largest jump in price for any category when you compare Prime vs. non-Prime prices.

When people buy non-fiction books, they want them immediately. The reason why isn’t that important but just know it has been this way for almost a decade.

So now that you understand that, here is my FREE guide on how to do it.

How to Make Money by Flipping Books on Amazon From Home

Step 1: Sign up for an Amazon Seller Account

This is pretty straightforward. Sign up and go through the entire process until you finish.

If you need a video that will likely answer any questions you might have, this one is great.

If you can handle the $40/month subscription fee for a Pro account, it is worth it.

However, if you don’t have much capital to work with a free account works just fine.

If you can’t find the sign up for the free account, google it.

Step 2: Look for Books to Flip

Once you are approved, it’s time to start finding profitable books to flip.

You do this by working backwards.

We will look on Amazon to find a potential flip and then look on eBay for it at a much lower price.

There is no perfect place to start, but here are some search terms I recommend:

  • Nursing

  • Statistics

  • Accounting

  • Economics

  • Strategy Guide

That last one has nothing in common with the rest because it relates to video games, but it can be quite profitable if you find one at the right price.

Step 3: Check for Permission

Some books are restricted on Amazon so that only the veteran sellers can sell them.

Therefore, we have to check every book we find to see if we have permission.

You do this by going on Amazon Seller Central and acting as if you already have the book and are listing it for sale.

The page looks like this:

From there you’ll just type the ISBN number in (this is on every book listing on Amazon) and see what it says.

If it says “Not Available”, you don’t have permission. If it says “Sell this Product” you are good to go.

Step 4: Check the Sales Rank

Amazon keeps a ranking of every product they have on the entire website.

The ranking we care about is “Books”.

By keeping track of this, you can make sure that every book you flip is a book that sells OFTEN.

That way, you don’t get stuck with a book that never sells.

To check this, you scroll about half-way down the product page on Amazon and it will show you the rank.

You want the rank to be under 250,000 if possible and at worst, 500,000.

Lower is better.

Step 5: Find Your Profit Price

Since we will be listing all books via Amazon Prime, we only care about Prime prices.

You can ignore all other books (for now).

Also, we will always treat “New” and “Used” as if they are two separate books. New and Used are entirely unrelated to each other.

Yes, you can flip both “New” or “Used” books, in case you were wondering.

If the lowest priced “New” or “Used” book with Prime shipping is $100, our mission is to find that book for $50 or less.

Why $50? Because it is half the price.

This isn’t a rigid guideline, but it’s what I recommend for beginners.

Due to Amazon Sellers fees, selling a book at $100 only yields around $75-80.

Paying $50 or less will leave you room for profit.

Step 6: Search eBay for the Same Books

When you find a book where you have:

  • Permission to sell

  • Good sales rank

  • Identified your “buy” price

It’s time to look for it on eBay.

You do that by searching that same ISBN number you used to check if you had permission.

eBay is nice because it has a “Make Offer” function, meaning you can offer people less than what they have a book listed for.

Use this feature anytime you possibly can!

Step 7: Send Your Books to Amazon

The only well to get your books listed with Amazon Prime shipping is by sending them to Amazon.

This is known as “Fulfillment by Amazon”.

For a video on this process, search YouTube or get my Textbook Flipping Mastery guide, which goes WAY more in depth than this guide here.

The more books you send in, the more money you save on shipping.

However, you can still send a single book if you really wanted.

Step 8: Maintain Your Prices and Wait

After sending the books off to Amazon, all you do is make sure you are the lowest price for your book condition and Prime.

The only other thing you can do is have patience.

On average, books sell within 1-3 weeks using this method I’ve described.

Once your books sell, repeat the process and scale up!

Is It Really That Easy?

Yes and no.

What I described above is the full process and anyone can try and do it on their own.

However, the toughest part is finding books and then having the confidence to know that buying those books will make you money.

The last thing you want to do is buy books that won’t ever sell.

To do that, you have to learn the fine details of Amazon and tools like “Keepa”.

I would have included them here, but then you would have been reading this post for the next 12 hours…

To help explain the process more efficiently, I created a premium video guide called “Textbook Flipping Mastery”.

It is included for FREE with access to The Conference Room.

The Conference Room is a private Discord community I operate that has grown to over 500 group members.
