IMPORTANT: A SPREADSHEET VERSION OF THE HIT LIST IS LINKED AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST

The hit list you are about to see down below is the list of LEGO sets my set picking system likes most for investing this year.

Prior to this month, it was created by:

  1. Looking at a giant list of sets expected to retire

  2. Inputting Amazon sales rank data (i.e. demand) into the my picking system and letting it spit out which sets it thinks will perform best

This version worked well and outperformed the average.

However, I noticed that it was missing out on undersupplied sets (think NINJAGO).

The updated set picking system (used this month) now attempts to take supply into consideration when looking at demand data.

Think about it…

LEGO obviously makes less NINJAGO sets than they do Star Wars sets and my prior system was not taking this into account (due to how many assumptions were required).

While we will never now how much supply any given LEGO set has, I think I have finally found a semi-decent way of adjusting for it.

In retroactive analysis, it outperforms the older system when looking at 2022 and 2023 retirees.

I will be releasing a post later this week that details exactly how the updated picking system works.

While I may venture outside of my hit list based on a gut feeling and buy sets that are not on there (you will be notified if I do this), these are the sets my set picking system likes at the current moment.

This list may change a lot before I finalize it September or it may not change at all.

The format below for listing hit list sets is as follows:

Let’s dive in.
