December is another one of those “in-between” months that are mainly used to gear up for the next busy season in January.
Books still sell, but prices are being kept high on listings for the following month and supply is still being ramped up.
That being said, we still definitely had some book sales.
Here are my Amazon numbers for December:
A large chunk of this total is not books. As I mentioned previously, we stocked a lot of holiday items in preparation for Q4.
Overall, 80-85% of those items were profitable and it was very successful.
When it comes to books, here is where we ended up:
Total Sales: $3,107.56
Books Sold: 31
Cost of Goods + Fees: $1,728.12
Total Profit: $1,379.44
Hours Worked: ~2-4
Average Profit Per Book: $44.50
Which means in 2021, we had:
2021 Total Sales: $104,812.03
2021 Books Sold: 1,180
2021 Total Profit: $38,452.71
2021 Profit Margin: 36.7%
After hitting $100,000 in revenue for the year last month, we ended 2021 with a very quiet December.
This was expected and just fine considering how much effort was put into holiday sales elsewhere on Amazon.
Ending the year with nearly $40,000 profit from a business that I only spend 10 hours per month on at most, is incredible.
If I put 20-25 hours per week into book flipping, I could easily clear $100,000 profit in 2022.
I’m not going to though.
The reason I still flip books is so I can show what is possible and teach people what it takes to run a profitable e-commerce business.
My time is better off focusing on content, rather than making an extra $60,000.
I expect more profit for January vs. December because it’s a very busy month every year.

Hi Jarrylew
I am based in Denmark, could i still use this business idea whit shipping prices here in Denmark?
Hi, thanks for your content. I'm finding that there is less opportunity with the Prime price bump in the UK . Is this because shipping times are less so people wont pay that much more for a few days different? Is it therefore still possible to be as successful in UK doing this?
