Stop Looking For “Easy”
If you’re reading this newsletter, chances are the idea of financial freedom and/or self-employment interests you.
While the path to either one of those is different for every individual, there is one thing that every path has in common: it’s hard.
Don’t let anyone every convince you that the process is a walk in the park.
If it was, everyone would have beat the game already.
It takes a ton of effort, patience, and discipline to fully employ yourself and eventually not have to work unless you want to.
Any notion that you can shortcut your way to financial independence is laughable.
There is no “easy” way out. You must put in the work for years on end.
You Must WANT It
To accomplish something that is extremely difficult, you must have a deep-rooted reason for WHY you want to do it.
My reason for wanting self-employment and eventually financial freedom was the following:
I HATE not being in control of my schedule
I HATE being told what to do and when to do it
I HATE alarm clocks
I HATE when another human controls how much money I earn
I HATE the idea of trading 5 days of hell for 2 days of freedom every week
As you can tell, I am very passionate about the way these things make me feel.
I didn’t just stumble upon the idea of financial independence and go “hey, that looks cool.”
If I had done that, I would have given up after a week.
Here’s the cool part though…
When you have a deep rooted reason for wanting something, the idea of it taking a ton of work does not bother you.
The simple fact that you are on a journey to something different than the things you hate most, makes it all worth it.
Find your “why” and you’ll never give up.
It Takes Action
Far too many people spend months planning their very first side hustle or business.
Most of this is a gigantic waste of time.
One day of actual work beats a month of planning. Get the ball rolling and make revisions as you go.
Go sort your favorite YouTube channel to show the oldest videos first.
I guarantee you those first few looks TERRIBLE compared to the content you see today.
Trust me, those first few videos wouldn’t have been ANY better if the creator “planned” a few weeks longer prior to making them.
You must learn on the job to improve at something.
Get started as soon as possible.
