The July 2022 Book Flipping Profit & Loss Report
Here is how much money my efficient Amazon business made last month.
“Why Not Me? by Jarrylew” is a business, finance, and entrepreneurial newsletter that focuses around the idea of using efficient income to become self-employed and financially free.

If you’ve been following along this year, you’ll know that February through July is somewhat “non-eventful” when it comes to book sales.
The business is profitable year round but this period is quiet with steady sales, without much deviation at all.
July is where things change on the buy side though, in preparation for the upcoming chaotic busy sales season of late-August to mid-September.
For the first time ever, I created a list of over 100 books that I expect to sell most profitably during this period in 2022 and offered it to all of my students back in June.
The result was incredible, with tons of people grabbing the list and putting it to work.\
I myself purchased roughly 300 books from this list, a few days after releasing it.
Just to give you a couple highlights…
Here are 5 books from the list that have already spiked heavily in price with still a few more weeks until they peak:
Torts and Compensation - Original Price: $30 - Lowest Prime Price Today: $158
A Writer's Reference - Original Price: $10 - Lowest Prime Price Today: $37
Anatomy: A Photographic Atlas - Original Price: $32 - Lowest Prime Price Today: $61
Organic Chemistry - Original Price: $60 - Lowest Prime Price Today: $115
Problems in Contract Law - Original Price: $95 - Lowest Prime Price Today: $190
These are just a handful of many others that have also increased and will continue to rise this month.
How did I know they would jump in price like that? Go back and read the June Profit & Loss report for a full breakdown.
That being said, let’s take a look back at July, which will look tame in comparison to what August and September will bring.
July 2022
Total Sales: $4,661.03
Books Sold: 44
Cost of Goods + Fees: $2,789.81
Total Profit: $1,871.22
Hours Worked: ~12-15
Average Profit Per Book: $42.53
Total Profit for 2022: $21,432.15
If you go back and look at other months, you’ll notice that this is the lowest profit we have tallied in 2022 for a single month.
The reason for that is simple, I got a bit lazy last year and let books sell in July that I could have sold for much higher just a month later.
This year I decided to bump prices up on most of my existing inventory in preparation for August/September, which lowered our sales quite a bit.
The temporary hit in sales will reward us with much better profit margins in a month’s time.
You’ll also notice that the time spent working on this business nearly doubled.
That is a result of creating the busy season list and then using it to order a few hundred books.
With the extra emphasis on busy season this year, I expect us to easily surpass our 2021 total of $38,000 profit.
Time will tell if that’s true or not.
