To read last month’s P&L Report, go here.
It’s time to take a look the third month of the year and break down how much profit the book flipping business made.
In February, we had almost $8,000 in revenue and nearly $3,000 in profit despite having only 28 days to work with.
More importantly, it only took around 10 hours of work to generate that kind of return.
As we head into spring, it is expected that results will be mellow. Monthly profit numbers will likely hang out around the $2,000-$4,000 area until August.
Remember, the point of this business is not to strictly “make money”, it is to show the reader what is possible.
March 2022
After we account for the non-book related items sold last month, here are the totals for March:
Total Sales: $9,644.31
Books Sold: 124
Cost of Goods + Fees: $6,147.12
Total Profit: $3,497.19
Hours Worked: ~7-10
Average Profit Per Book: $28.20
Here are the numbers from a year ago in March:
Total Sales: $8,263.94
Books Sold: 107
Total Profit: $3,122
Hours Worked: ~10-12
Average Profit Per Book: $26.25
While the total amount of profit was quite similar to 2021, what has improved is the efficiency of the business.
I worked less hours to make more money in 2022, which is the most important part of any side hustle.
The other $4,000 in sales come from different areas, including: toys, electronics, video games, and sports merchandise.
At some point this year, I will be handing over fulfillment to a third party.
It is something I should have done a long time ago, but I am a control freak.
This will allow for even further efficiency and will free up time for further content production.
$3,500 in profit from an off-season month while working no more than 10 hours is an incredible return.
Nothing to complain about so far in 2022, this business is as healthy as it ever has been and I only see that continuing.
I originally expected numbers to diminish until the summer, but now I’m not so sure. We will see what April has to offer.
Total Profit for 2022: $9,957.68
