To read last month’s P&L Report, go here.
As I explained in last month’s report, I expect a drop in book sales for the month of October.
There are two main reasons why:
It’s post busy season and supply is low
I am switching my focus to seasonal holiday items (not books)
This means for the first time in a long time, I sold more than just books on my Amazon seller account.
It’s just a little bit of extra leg work to calculate the numbers, but everything else remains the same.
Here are my Amazon numbers:
Then, after segmenting which ASINs were books I was able to single them out and add them up.
Therefore, in October I had the following:
Total Sales: $5,322.55
Books Sold: 48
Cost of Goods + Fees: $3,238.66
Total Profit: $2,083.89
Hours Worked: ~4-6
Average Profit Per Book: $43.41
Here are the yearly totals:
2021 Total Sales: $96,381.92
2021 Books Sold: 1,100
2021 Total Profit: $35,568.89
2021 Profit Margin: 36.9%
Yes, I sold $20,000+ worth of product during the month of October that wasn’t book related.
What did I sell?
Mainly Pokémon cards to cover the cost basis of the investments mentioned in this post:
The dip in book sales that I expected for October did happen. Overall though, $2,000 profit is great for hardly working on that side of the business at all.
I expect a further dip in book sales for both November and December.
I’m talking $1,000 profit if I’m lucky.
Why? Same reason mentioned in last month’s report.
Buying items to sell during the holiday season will be an gigantic money maker this year and I’ve been putting most of my free capital in that direction.
Starting in early December, I will be pouring a ton of money into books once again because January is a very big month for books.
