To read last month’s P&L Report, go here.
The beginning of September is prime busy season, but as the school year gets underway the sales volume noticeably dips in the last half of the month.
With that in mind, I expected a good month but not as good as last month. Let’s look at the numbers!
In September I had the following:
Total Sales: $7,503.94
Books Sold: 67
Cost of Goods + Fees: $4,662.00
Total Profit: $2,841.94
Hours Worked: 5-10
Average Profit Per Book: $42.42
2021 Total Sales:Â $91,059.37
2021 Books Sold:Â 1,052
2021 Total Profit:Â $33,485.00
2021 Profit Margin:Â 36.8%
September was roughly half the amount of revenue and profit of August. Overall, I expected that though.
The main reason is due to my shift in focus with Amazon for the fourth quarter of the year.
Even though busy season for books comes once again in January, my capital is being deployed to stock the shelves for the holidays.
This means buying tons of toys that are bound to leap in price in December.
If you are a member of my Discord group, you’ll already know this.
It has been our main focus for well over a month now and looks like it will pay off huge this year.
I have hardly bought any books since late July.
Not because they aren’t profitable right now (they always are), but because the potential profits from holiday items is just untouchable.
With that said, the math for these book flipping reports will be much more difficult once I start selling other items on my Amazon seller account.
That’s okay though.
I don’t expect to make much money via books until January, so expect very low revenue and profit numbers in the coming months.
What I should do, is document the numbers for non-book sales.
Perhaps I can start a separate P&L report for that, if people would like to see it.
If you would like to learn how to flip books the way I do, I encourage you to grab a copy of my book flipping guide here if you haven't already.
