It’s about that time again, where we look at some books that were flipped on Amazon recently.
The point of these posts is not to have readers try and make money flipping the exact book titles I’m about to show.
Instead, it is about showing:
What is possible
How efficient of a side hustle this is
What to expect
Pay attention to the overall idea and process, not just the results.
You won’t find content like this anywhere else.
There are tons of people out there talking about businesses you can start, but how many of them document their own entire business on Substack and YouTube like I do?
You’ll be hard pressed to find another person.
This hustle takes work, but all good businesses do. With that said, let’s get into it.
Book #1
Book #1 is a classic that I have profitably flipped for several years now. I grabbed this one for $40 on eBay.
The key to this flip was finding it at an absolute bargain. eBay is nice because you can send people offers, you’d be surprised at how much money you can save using them.
These sell for $150 on Amazon all day long.
200% ROI is amazing and why I will always come back to it.
Cost Basis: $40.00
Sale Price: $149.95
Fees: $30.27
Profit After Fees: $79.68
ROI: 199%
Book #2
Book #2 is a more traditional flip.
It’s a textbook and isn’t a crazy amount of profit but exactly the type of return everyone doing this should aim for.
It was bought for $121 and sold for $240. The difference with this one is that it was an Amazon to Amazon flip.
Why does this work? Because we are taking a book that arrives in 2 weeks and getting it customers in 2 days instead.
Yes, people will pay double because they are that impatient.
Cost Basis: $121.42
Sale Price: $239.95
Fees: $44.67
Profit After Fees: $73.86
ROI: 61%
Book #3
This flip is a little more rare because it’s not a textbook or a video game guide.
It was also an Amazon to Amazon flip.
I always recommend random niches and this is a perfect example of where to look.
After paying $38 for it, it sold for $88.
Cost Basis: $38.01
Sale Price: $87.95
Fees: $19.94
Profit After Fees: $30.00
ROI: 79%
Book #4
I’m not sure if this is technically a textbook or if it’s just a random non-fiction book, but it was profitable and that’s the only thing that matters.
Once again, it was another Amazon to Amazon flip.
I got it for $47 and it sold for $130.
What you’re probably realizing is the price I get these books for is the most important part.
They are deals and that’s what all purchases for book flipping should be.
Cost Basis: $47.10
Sale Price: $129.95
Fees: $26.97
Profit After Fees: $55.88
ROI: 119%
Book #5
Here we go with another random flip, a Dungeons & Dragons handbook.
It was purchased on eBay for $30 and sold on Amazon for $89.
The rank on this book isn’t really that great, but as I’ve said before with game guides, rank isn’t as important.
Mainly because supply is a lot lower on most of them than the supply is for textbooks.
Therefore, buyers have less options to choose from.
Cost Basis: $30.00
Sale Price: $88.95
Fees: $20.09
Profit After Fees: $38.86
ROI: 129%
Book #6
This post is a heavy on the video game strategy guides. They are my favorite books to flip by far.
I got a great deal on this one by snagging it for $125 on eBay.
These sell for nearly $400 on Amazon if they are brand new.
Not much else to say about it, it’s just that easy.
Cost Basis: $125.00
Sale Price: $379.98
Fees: $65.08
Profit After Fees: $189.90
ROI: 152%
Conclusion
Cost Basis: $401.53
Revenue: $1,076.73
Fees: $207.02
Profit After Fees: $468.18
ROI: 117%
When flipping books, a great ROI is anything above 50% in my opinion.
As for profit margin, the e-commerce industry standard is around 20%.
The profit margin on these six books combined was 43.5%.
That is double the industry standard and it only took around an hour or two total of work to get these books into a position to sell like this.
There is no better side hustle on earth.
