TIE #009: Steal This Strategy and Build Your Dream Life With It
If it worked for me, it can work for you.
Apparently you hate money. If you didn’t, you’d be using Rakuten every time you shop on websites like Walmart and Target to save money.
They have paid me over $8,000 for things I was already going to buy for my one-person business (click here for proof).
They are also the reason this post is free to read. Sign up here and get $30 for free after your first use.
Everyone has a fantasy life that they dream of having.
Mine was (and now is) pretty simple:
No alarm clocks
No boss
No commute
Physically fit
Enough income to cover all of my expenses, without having to work more than 10-20 hours/week
And above all else:
The freedom to do what I want, when I want, no matter what day it is
Your dream life probably looks different, as it should. We all have different preferences.
It’s not hard to outline what your dream life looks like, I just explained mine in 10 seconds.
The hard part is making that life a reality.
Here is the strategy I used and you should use it too:
Step 1: Outline Your Dream Life in 10 Years
Like I said, this is easy. I just did it myself at the start of this post. Feel free to include goals for your personal life, not just your financial life.
Step 2: Create a Benchmark Goal for 5 Years in
If you want that dream life 10 years from now, you’ll need to have made progress after 5 years.
For me, this was:
At least 2 profitable online businesses
$5,000+ combined net monthly profit from my online businesses
$250,000+ net worth
Fully self-employed
Keep lifting 5 days/week and eating a high protein diet
Yours will look different. Make it challenging but realistic.
Step 3: Outline Another Benchmark Goal for 1 Year in
To hit those benchmarks in Step 2, you have to lay the ground work.
Mine looked something like this:
At least one profitable online business
Lift 5 days/week and eat a high protein diet
Step 4: Outline One Last Benchmark for 1 Month in
To hit the 1 year benchmark, you’re going to need a specific plan of attack to get you started.
Mine looked like this:
Play video games less
Stop going to 99% of social events
Sign up for a gym, start lifting 5+ days/week, and start eating a high protein diet
Learn how to sell stuff on Amazon
Sell my first item on Amazon (or get as close to doing so as possible)
This is how you reverse engineer the life you want most.
After mapping this out, almost every action you take should be something that gets you closer to both the 1 month goal and the 1 year goal.
If you decide your dream life looks different two years in, rebuild and update your strategy to match that end goal.
Also, if ten years sounds like it’s “too long” then you should give up now. All great things worth having take time and effort.
You must be realistic or you’ll be discouraged at the first sign of trouble.
I’m not saying this is the best way to do it, but this is what worked for me.
