TIE #043: Do What Others Won't (The Greatest Life Hack of Them All)
If you blend in with the crowd, you're headed the wrong direction.
Apparently you hate money.
If you didn’t, you’d be using Rakuten every time you shop on websites like Walmart and Target to save money (or make money).
They have paid me over $13,400 for things I was already going to buy for my one-person business:

Every so often I like to zoom out and apply what I write about to an overarching mindset.
Today that theme is what you see mentioned in my Twitter/X header:
Do what others won’t
Or put more eloquently by Jerry Rice, one of the greatest NFL wide receivers of all time:
“Today I will do what others won’t, so tomorrow I can do what others can’t.”
It is the foundation of everything I have accomplished in life and is the sole reason I won’t ever have to wake up to an alarm again.
I don’t just operate a one-person business for fun. I do it because it is something most people aren’t willing to do.
To understand the value of this “do what others won’t” mindset, simply create a list of what most people are not willing to do:
Exercise
Maintain a healthy weight
Refuse to drink alcohol
Start a profitable business
Delay gratification (suffer short term pain for long term gain)
Stop caring about what other people think
Can you imagine a life where you do all of these things? Sounds like a pretty good life doesn’t it?
It doesn’t just apply to lifestyle though, it applies to business too.
What do most ecommerce business owners do?
They buy product and attempt to sell it as fast as possible. (Which is good if you don’t have a lot of capital to work with)
What are most ecommerce business owners not willing to do?
Buy product that appreciates over time and hold it for months or even years.
That is why I operate my business the way I do. (It also requires a lot less time input)
At every turn, I do whatever I can to do what almost everyone else isn’t willing to do.
Occasionally people will complain to me that this approach “exclusionary”.
What they don’t realize is that everyone has the ability to do what others won’t.
It is a choice to remain a sheep amongst the flock.
No one is forcing anyone to be an overweight and obedient wage slave who is in debt up to their eyeballs from a compulsive shopping habit.
That is a choice.
The most impactful thing anyone can do is look around at the average American’s lifestyle and identify what those people are unwilling to do.
Do those things over an extended period of time (yes, years) and you’ll live the life you’ve always dreamed of.
I recommend starting with how you treat your body and how you make a living, because that’s what worked for me.
The choice is yours and I can’t make it for you.
