TIE #053: How This Newsletter Got 117,198 Views and Made $6,259.76 in March 2024
If you aren't documenting your business, you're missing out on a lot of money.
Welcome to the second post of this newer series where I document the analytical and financial performance of this newsletter.
Here is last month’s post:
Let’s start by taking a look at total subscribers:
Total subscribers gained: 604
Almost identical to February.
We did not do any pruning (as far as I remember) however that blip mid-month does look like removed a few.
Can’t remember though!
Next we have paid subscribers:
Paid subscribers gained: -13
As I mentioned in the last update, things are quiet in the LEGO investing world right now.
It is no surprise to see people letting their subscriptions expire as they take a break or decide the paid content isn’t what they’re looking for.
Nothing wrong with that.
(Starting to see a rebound in April if you check out the end of the graph above)
I am curious to see how things trend now that I have added two non-LEGO related series that will each get a post every month.
(Rakuten/Schwab + New Supplement Biz)
Next we have traffic:
Total Views: 117,198
Mind blowing that I get over 100,000 eyeballs on this place every single month.
The most viewed post in March was my LEGO hit list:
Here are the traffic sources:
The only major change vs. last month is over 1,000 less views from TikTok.
I am an idiot for not using it more often considering I have well over 250,000 followers there.
Time to fix that!
Here is how much money the newsletter made in March:
Total Profit: $11,259.76 - $5,000 (consulting fees) = $6,259.76
One day this number will hover above $10,000/month from paid subscribers alone.
However, I have no intention on trying to make that happen artificially.
It will happen when it happens.
Have a question? Leave it below and I’ll get to it ASAP.
You may or may not know this, but being a paid subscriber here gives you access to the paid subscriber chat.
Check it out here if you haven’t already:
Im just curious, is it typical to have consulting fees for a substack newsletter? I have a creative story blog in addition to building my Lego biz and was considering an account on both Medium and here on Substack to promote it/alternate income source but those fees are kinda high. As always, thanks for the excellent content
My 9-5 job is writing. I would love to see a tutorial on how to set something like this up to make money. I bought your book flipping course a few years ago but couldn’t make it happen. This might be a better fit for me. Thank you!
