TIE Pokémon Booster Box Portfolio Report - January 2025
Come take a look at which Pokémon booster boxes I am invested in and how well they're performing.
Welcome to a new (but also old) series where I document the performance of my Pokémon booster box portfolio.
I started this series back in 2021 and re-introduced it late last year.
If you missed last month’s post, check it out here:
With the reintroduction of this series, I am now issuing buy/sell alerts for Pokémon booster boxes for paid subscribers, just like I do with LEGO.
If you want to subscribe and lock in the current price before it increases, I suggest you do so now:
As I mentioned in the last update, the Pokémon market is a sellers market right now.
Back when I started this portfolio, you were able to watch a new Pokémon card set release and allow it to marinate in the market for a year before creating a position.
There were several occasions where I was able to buy sets well below MSRP.
Brilliant Stars was the only set where I felt like I had to “pay up” because the price never really came down.
I don’t like investing when I can’t at least get a set near MSRP.
Part way through 2024 is when the time to lock in a position decreased until we hit a point where I don’t even own Twilight Masquerade, Stellar Crown, or Surging Sparks.
This would have been normal a few years ago.
They each released in May, September, and November of 2024.
Their current prices are $200, $170, $250 each.
I’m not a buyer of any of them above $140.
So either Pokémon gets to printing a hell of a lot more of them or we won’t be adding these to the portfolio, ever.
With that out of the way, let’s take a look at how the portfolio has changed over the last month:
