Amazon re-gated me and sent back all the FBA LEGO inventory I had already sent in. I had been selling LEGO for better part of a year with no returns or customer complaints.
Liquidating via WalMart now but the way Amazon handled that made me lose all trust in them. Congrats to anyone who avoided the issue or is already a big seller…personally I’m done with Amazon if that’s how they treat their selling “partners”.
Stories like yours make me hesitant to go through the effort of earning Amazon’s good graces by exploring other toy arbitrage options if they can just revoke it again for no reason next Christmas. It’ll be interesting to see how Walmart will pan out for people as an alternative
Agreed…I’m here to make money and need to know that the inventory I’ve purchased from Amazon, have been approved to sell on Amazon, and that Amazon has already accepted will be allowed to sell. Having to get in Amazon’s “good graces” makes them no different than an employer telling me when I can take a day off.
Amazon used to gate the Toys category every Q4 unless you met a sales threshold. At least then they gave you a warning and it was a reasonable amount to gain access. It’s a shame they pulled the rug out on so many sellers recently. I didn’t get hit, and I guess it’s due to the age of my account or something. But could happen any time. Platform risk in a nutshell.
This is a solid breakdown of the LEGO/Amazon situation. It’s wild how fast Amazon can shut down entire seller categories with little to no warning. Feels like another reminder that diversifying platforms isn’t just smart—it’s necessary.
The “False Productivity” trap hits home too. Selling just to prove you’re trustworthy sounds frustrating, but it’s probably the best play if you’re serious about staying in the game. Love the mindset of persistence—adapt or die, right?
Just the other day, the CEO of ThreeColts had a meeting with higher ups and asked them about the Used BuyBox change for books (where they were pushing FBM books to the buybox)
They said "this is the new normal"
Two days later, it was back to FBA being in the buybox. A direct 180 vs. what they told him.

Totally understand your perspective and unwillingness to trust them.

As someone that was previously selling Lego on Amazon and is now gated. I really appreciate the timing of this post! Time to look into Walmart.
Has Amazon given any clarification as to why they did this?
Amazon never clarifies any of their decisions.

This is how Amazon operates... sadly.
I guess when you’re Amazon you can do whatever you feel like lol
Thank you!
I bought your course and invested 10k into lego this fall in hopes to be ungated by now. Still gated unfortunately.
You aren't alone!
Like I said, patience is often rewarded. It is up to you if that's something you're willing to endure.
